I like the 30" and 18" gate idea. a 4-foot gate would never have held up and taken up way too much real estate when opening. Your idea is a much more practical solution.. ty. something doesn't make sense. you must have done your dados twice. .because the beginning of the video doesn't match the end of the video with the way the orientation of the dados are on the bottom and top rails

I like your simple straight forward design and video presentation, thank you for sharing. My deck has a 6'wide staircase between two opposite facing 45° deck rails so I have to modify my posts to face each other then build 2 Gates like this. My projects always have an extra layer of challenge lol
